Pat Crawford receives Advocate Sherman Tree of Life Award

(Elgin, IL) Pat Crawford, president of Elgin Medi-Transport, Inc. was the recipient of the 2015 Tree of Life Award in appreciation of his “exceptional volunteer leadership, extraordinary dedication and commitment to Sherman Hospital, and his consistent, generous philanthropic support”.

The honor was presented on August 30, 2015 at the Advocate Sherman Hospital campus in Elgin at the “Music by the Water” event. Over 280 guests attended and enjoyed a performance by the Elgin Symphony Orchestra Brass Quintet, followed by the Moonlighters. Moonlighters are a physician band of Sherman medical professionals. The evening concluded with music of The Smokin’ Gunz band.

The event raised $82,000 for the Musicians Care Program at Advocated Sherman Hospital. Musicians Care was designed to enhance the patient-centered experience by providing a calm and relaxing environment to contribute to the healing process.

Elgin Medi-Transport, Inc. was founded by Pat Crawford in 1977 after a decade of service with the Elgin Fire Department and provides private ambulance service to northern Illinois. Over the years, the company has expanded operations and embraced the changes in healthcare to provide exceptional advanced and basic life support ambulance and medi-van transport.

Crawford was one of the first certified and licensed paramedics in Elgin in 1974 and continues his active duty on the rigs and in the industry.

Elgin Medi-Transport was the first ambulance service in the 1980s to specialize in cardiac care with proprietary service in partnership with a Sherman Hospital to transport cardiac patients with intra-aortic balloon pumps. Technology and medication has progressed, and Elgin Medi continues to be on the cutting edge. Today, 12-Lead EKG Monitors capture and transmit cardiac data from every Elgin Medi ambulance. Before the ambulance arrives, twelve key diagnostics of the heart are reported to the ER. Staff and doctors can prepare to meet the ambulance with proper treatment, saving seconds and saving lives.

“Our motto is to treat the patient like a part of your family. I am very proud to receive the Tree of Life award and be a part of the Advocate Sherman Hospital family,” Crawford said.

Elgin Medi-Transport serves the ambulance and medical van needs for hospitals, senior care centers, medical facilities, organizations and community members. 24/7/365 live in-house dispatch is ready to respond and schedule transportation.
